Authorities have identified eight victims who perished in a devastating boating accident on Lake Tahoe. Among the deceased were DoorDash executive Joshua Pickles and his parents, along with several others from California and New York. The group had gathered to celebrate a birthday when their boat capsized during a sudden storm near D.L. Bliss State Park.
The 27-foot Chris-Craft vessel overturned in the midst of powerful winds and waves reaching 8 to 10 feet. Out of ten passengers on board, only two survived, though their current conditions are unknown. Rescue efforts spanned multiple agencies, and the final missing victim was found three days later, officially concluding the search.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the various agencies involved in the rescue and recovery mission. They also released footage showing the treacherous lake conditions that led to the boat capsizing. Witnesses described the water as highly turbulent, and rescue teams worked heroically through the stormy conditions to respond to the tragic event.
