Wheel Contest Controversy: Woman Denied Prize Despite Correct Answer

Outraged “Wheel of Fortune” fans are criticizing the show after contestant Megan appeared to correctly answer a bonus puzzle but was denied the full prize. Megan, a high school choir director from California, faced the “Living Thing” category with a two-word puzzle. The board initially read “_ N ‘ R _ _ ,” and through strategic letter selections, she transformed it to “P_N’ ‘RC _ D.”

With just 10 seconds remaining, Megan guessed aloud, sounding like “Pink Orchid.” The correct letters lit up the board simultaneously, yet she did not receive the $40,000 she expected, only $14,007. Viewers quickly flooded social media, claiming the contestant was unfairly denied her rightful winnings.

One fan wrote, “The woman got screwed on #WheelOfFortune tonight; she totally said ‘PINK ORCHID.’” Another added, “I use captions and lip read. She said ‘Pink Orchid!! No question!!” The controversy intensified as many demanded the show review the footage. This incident adds to recent scrutiny over the game’s handling of answers.

In a prior episode’s “Rhyme Time” round, two contestants struggled until a third guessed “Absolutely Positively,” which many viewers argued didn’t constitute a rhyme. Fans criticized the show, demanding clearer rules and fair adjudication. Host Pat Sajak acknowledged Megan’s frustration, and social media users are calling for proper recognition and compensation. As the debate continues online, the “Wheel of Fortune” controversy highlights ongoing fan scrutiny over prize accuracy and puzzle adjudication. Whether the show revisits Megan’s case or clarifies its rules, viewers remain vocal, insisting that contestants’ efforts be fairly rewarded and that mistakes on national television be corrected.
